A Curriculum Guide with Purpose

by Lindsey Ralls

More often than not, our curriculum guides look a lot like the ones in the public school classroom down the street. But, if we want our classrooms and our students to be different, then our curriculum guides should as well! The attached guide is for a Chorus Unit. Notice it’s connections to the one-pager, specifically in how it outlines both the pedagogical principle (the why) being cultivated through this unit, as well as the pedagogical practice (the how) in accomplishing that goal. The guide also connects the unit to the idea of virtue, the ordering of affections, and the transcendentals (truth, goodness, and beauty). Essentially, it is making paideia practical in the classroom.
